Ishikura Ōzan (Ishikura Yukiharu) was born March 12, 1926. He studied Tozan-ryū shakuhachi under Yamaguchi Kōzan (a student of Fujii Ryūzan), achieving the rank of Dai-Shihan and the title Chikurin-ken. Aside from his talents as both a shakuhachi teacher and performer, Ōzan was also an accomplished shakuhachi maker.
